Filter out the negative

I’m a believer that your surroundings really do affect your mood and personality. And that what you take in, is what you put out. If you expose yourself to lots of negative things, eventually you’ll begin to see things from that point of view. Or at least it will skew your own view. So in my opinion, being exposed to negative things, simply isn’t good for you.

With that in mind I’ve not watched any mainstream news, or read newspapers for many years. Even on the web, I rarely look at news articles, and on the occasions I do, I am reminded why I usually don’t. It’s all so negative!

Avoiding the news is one thing, but what other negative things do you have in your life? And how can you get rid of them? I use social media a lot and spend a lot of time online. In fact, that’s where I hear about any really important news that may actually affect me, like an impending zombie apocalypse.

But I also see lots of people having rants, or constantly posting negative things about all sorts of topics. It just seems to be their general demeanour. I’ve started to unfollow/unfriend these people as I’d much rather have people with a positive attitude in my life. I realise that we all have “One of those days” and life isn’t always a bed of roses. But when it’s a constant stream of negativity, I now switch it off. I suggest you do the same. Be happy people :)

Thanks

Richard
